A Lifetime of Paranormal Experiences

In the tradition of bestselling Cuban author Isabel Allende’s The House of The Spirits and the investigative writing of Budd Hopkins, bestselling author of Intruders, comes a book about ghosts, entities, and cryptids in the most remote and unexpected places around the globe.

The first half follows an Asian family beset by hauntings and nonhuman entities in the small town of San Juan in the post-colonial Spanish country of the Philippines. Little has been written about paranormal phenomena, extraterrestrial visitations, and other anomalies in the Philippines, so this book will offer the reader never before detailed encounters.

The second part of the book takes the reader on the author’s travels to other countries and local historic towns, where she encounters tourists and locals who recount paranormal phenomena. These include a college student who is confronted by a “Djinn” in Marrakesh, Morocco; to southern France, where a couple encounters “deer” that “stand peering through their kitchen window on two legs”, to a demonic visitation off a dying woman and finally a Thai couple whose infant is abducted by a creature called a “Tiyanak.”

In the cultural backdrop of Asia, Europe, North Africa and local sites in the US, this book is sure to pin the reader onto their seat and reset their view on reality.

Anna Maria masterfully resurrects stories that feel buried and forbidden. With each story, she manages to capture the feelings of wonder and fear with which we approach the paranormal. This book really is the portal through which we can catch a glimpse of the unknown... Even if we don't come away understanding it.

It felt like "Stranger Things meets Amityville". The book made me reminisce of my childhood and how we as kids used to scare each other with ghost stories. Those who like ghost stories should find this book fun to read.
