Haunted Heirlooms isn't particularly violent or gory (sorry to disappoint fans of either of those), but it does have an excellent element of creepiness where things aren't what they seem to be and the characters struggle to figure out what they're dealing with--some more successfully than others. This is the perfect book for collectors of antiques and heirlooms, particularly if they're also intrigued by ghosts and the histories that these artifacts may bring along with them.

Anna Marie Manalo takes you on a fright fueled antique roadshow with a menagerie of tales that will make you think twice about picking up that next thrift shop find! A first hand experience from the author starts you off, hooks you, and keeps you captivated til the end. Once you finish this book, you may hesitate buying ANY antique! A great compilation of spooky stories, stylized brilliantly. Highly recommended read!

Highly recommended for those who are avid antique and thrift shoppers. Beware - the things that we covet sometimes come with unusual baggage. I frequent antique shops and thrift stores of all sorts. I have also started collecting antique wood carved Santos (Saints) from my home country, the Philippines. These Santos are over 100 years old. I am always in awe of each acquisition - wondering who made such, who owned them before me, and what stories they could tell, if only they can talk. Reading this book definitely put another layer of interest, with caution, in my collecting adventures. I will recommend this book to my collector friends!

This book was fascinating and gripping! From the very first story to the last will leave you wondering about the “great buys” we get find at antique stores and the owners who came before… Anna Maria has not only an amazing attention to detail but her writing brings the reader into the story and leaves one’s heart pounding! Do not read with the lights off!

Anna has done it again, a compilation of bizarre and frightening incidents concerning inanimate objects that somehow have something, be it a spirit, demon, etc, attached to them. From personal experience I know how unsettling this could be. This is educational as well as frightening.

As an author and investigator of the paranormal myself, I can tell you this is a great paranormal read. As we walk the world collecting things we never know what could be attached to those objects. This book will make you think twice when walking an antique store. This is a must-read however be forwarned you must read it in the light of day! A great book that will keep you turning the pages. I really didn't want it to end.

Later at night, I’d wander around the house looking at our antiques and wondering what might pop out of them at any moment. Haunted Heirlooms took me right back to those nights and reminded me how frightening and delightful the unknown can be. Manalo has gathered a wonderful collection of bizarre and thrilling stories about objects that refuse to die a natural death – either in a rubbish heap or a long-forgotten cobwebbed corner of an attic. Long after you finish the book, these stories will creep into your mind to enjoy again and again.

In her newest compilation, Anna Maria opens with a reminiscent retelling of her own experience with a cursed chair, which sets the tone for the rest of the stories. I’ve heard about “haunted heirlooms” in the past, but reading this collection felt both cautionary and fascinating. This book is an exploration of how objects hold on to history, to life, and to the spiritual pieces that we can’t make sense of. It’s like reading an unfinished mystery that leaves you curious and awestruck and a little unsettled. You'll love these stories, but you'll develop a wariness for antique store bargains.

As a history buff and avid antique hound, this collection of paranormal suspense stories by Anna Marie Manalo was one in which I found myself scouring over the words, searching for some detail as to what has brought an objects relevance in someone’s life from long ago, through time. This author has managed to convey, at least in my case and in many of my more honest acquaintances, the sense of an influence we often can’t express, in the items we purchase from antique stores. Looking forward to reading more of this author’s work.

What you buy may include more than you expect! Such is the case with this fantastically written book! This book had me on a roller coaster ride- I was up turning the lights on, downstairs cautiously checking on all of the bumps in the night, and carefully examining ALL of my artifacts and antiques EACH time in a whole new way. DON’T sleep on this one!! ESPECIALLY while laying on a mattress attached to an antique bed frame! Anna’s style of writing builds perfectly into a genuine storm of paranormal goodness with each and every story!

I generally prefer books written in the third person, so when I picked up Haunted Heirlooms, I was initially concerned about the first-person style. About three pages in, that concern went away. Anna's writing style and the quality of the writing hooked me in quickly. I'm a fan of the spooky stories, which is what led me to this book. I loved the attention to detail and the steady burn in the stories. For those who enjoy a good haunt, this one is a good choice.

I thought the book was great as a Twenty year Paranormal Investigator, This book hit home in so many ways and was spot on with alot of things dealing with the Supernatural. Great read I enjoyed this Book very much. Beware what you buy or is given to you that has some age to it or passed down from families, you never know what is coming along with that object, it could bring some real trouble your way in more ways than one.

Never thought I’d read a book that’s this absorbing, yet terrifying. It just grabbed me and I just had to keep reading it. I like antiques, but this book now has me on edge! Watch out for stuff you buy that’s beautiful but old! The kind of scary that insidious!

I’ve read so many scary books but this one gave me the Chills. Do not read this alone have somebody by yourside. The book is very engaging and you will feel every scene by the words that was put in each sentence of the book. The book transports you to a time where you will feel as if your the character described in each chapter. All the chapters are excellent 👍 but my favorite part is the Furniture shop! Scary 🙀🙀🙀. My imagination is very active while reading thus chapter Excellent book

Just finished Part 1, can't wait to dive into Part 2! Having to sleep is stupid and I just want to stay up all night reading the entire book in one sitting. Very well written, easy to follow and have it play like a movie in your mind. My favorite kind of book experience. 🙂 Excellent book
